WELCOME TO "OUR" LIVERMORE TRI-VALLEY! Tom's roots go deep in Livermore beginning when he was born on Thanksgiving Day. His mother's family moved to Livermore in 1929 when the city's population was 2500 people. His father, Eldred Chance moved to Livermore, in 1935. Prior to his career in Real Estate, Tom's dad was a B-24 pilot in WWII. His dad, active in Livermore politics, was one of only three Real Estate Brokers in the City of Livermore in the 1950's.
Tom attended local schools. After graduating from Livermore High School, Tom attended Chabot Jr. College and received an AA degree. He graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with A BA degree in Communication Studies.
Tom and his wife, Cheryl, started dating when she was 14 and he was 16. They were high school sweethearts and dated six years before getting married, On November 11, 2008, they will be married 36 years. Tom's pride and joy is his family. He has three children, Ryan, 32, Dan, 29, and Amanda, 21. Ryan and Dan are co-owners of RC Ready-Mix Co. in Livermore. Amanda is a recent graduate of Azusa-Pacific University.
Tom and Cheryl have two beautiful daughters-in-law, Lisa and Annette, and four wonderful granchildren. Caleb is five, Carly is three and Tommy, named after Grandpa, is two years old and the most "recent Chance" is Aaron James, born May 24, 2008.
November is the month for celebration in the Chance family. Tom and Ryan share the same birthday on November 23. Amanda was born on Tom and Cheryl's anniversary, and each son was married in November. Grandaughter Carly arrived just before midnight on November 30.
On any given Saturday morning you will find Tom and Caleb, joined by Cheryl and Carly at McDonald's having pancakes, sausage and apple juice. The menu never varies and the conversation is constant and always exciting.
Tom has been a licensed Realtor since 1981. He started his career in the mortgage
business and served as Vice President for a regional foreclosure company. He entered full-time Real Estate in 1986, following in the footsteps of his dad. Over the years Tom has served as recruiting sales manager and office manager for several Real Estate firms.
Early on in his career, Tom realized the need to stand out in some way in Real Estate. His license plate says it all, " COOKDO". Tom established his niche at Broker's open houses by serving his own recipe of hot chocolate cookies. He's been making these cookies since he was six years old.
In 1997, Tom was named Realtor of the Year for the Tri-Valley by the membership of SACAR. He takes great pride in this honor and prominently displays the plaque in his office. Tom's office decor also displays his "second love", Hawaii. Hoping to live part-time someday in Kona on the Big Island, Tom's office walls sport many tropical scenes allowing him to dream his dream.
Tom enjoys eating out at his favorite spots, Horatio's, on the San Leandro marina, Dave Wong's in Stockton and traveling to Hawaii. He loves to relax in his garden at home.
Tom had a life changing experience in 2005. In March, Tom and Cheryl traveled to Israel with a group from their church, Cornerstone Fellowship. They saw ancient biblical ruins, retraced the steps of Jesus, sailed on the Sea of Galilee and renewed their wedding vows at sunrise atop Mt. Arbel. It was an unbelievable trip with many wonderful memories.
